Our Upcoming Event
REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH SYSTEM DISEASES AWARENESS
Reproductive health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, in all matters relating to the reproductive system and its processes. Reproductive health therefore implies that people are able to have a satisfying and safe sex life and that they have the capability to reproduce and the freedom to decide if, when, and how often to do so.
Reproductive System:The reproductive system of an organism, also known as the genital system, is the biological system made up of all the anatomical organs involved in sexual reproduction.
In a recent research done by the National Institutes Of Health, 8.9%(equivalent to 224) women in Nairobi Kenya underwent laparoscopic surgery in February, 2023. 176 Million women have been diagnosed with endometriosis, and 30-50% of pelvic surgeries are endometriosis patients. Men on the other hand, have not been able to openly visit health centers for treatment, hence, no clear statistics. At least 10% of couples experience infertility, and deficiencies of sperm production in the male are the causal factor in about one-third of all cases, whereas in females, infertility is related to the faulty production of ova or interferences in their union with spermatozoa.
The overlapping risk factors in relation to Reproductive Health include:
- Socio-demographic characteristics such as; age, education, socio-economic status
- Hereditary cases of underlying conditions
- Lifestyle factors such as; physical activities, food and drinks consumed.
As a victim of Endometriosis & Adenomyosis, and a Reproductive Health Enthusiast, our Founder & The Executive Director: Amondi Oluoch, wishes to champion for Reproductive Health and share #THEHOPESHECARRIES with fellow victims through an awareness campaign, that’s going to run this year.

In every household, 1 out of 10 is suffering from reproductive health diseases. The victims juggle alone at the mercies of the specialists in the Private Sector because;
- There are no much laid policies about Reproductive Health
- There are no solid statistics about it at the national level, and even if there are, then they are diagnostic cases.
- Reproductive Health is not catered for, in the health bill.(except family planning, HIV & Pregnancies)
- Health facilities are under staffed with Reproductive Health Specialists, hence increasing the rates of misdiagnosis to the victims
- The facilities are not well-equipped with Tools & Equipment for the right diagnosis.
OUR MESSAGE / UJUMBE WETU / OTE MARWA
1. TO THE GOVERNMENT/ SERIKALI/ PINY OWACHO
- Is it possible to have an allocation for diagnostic coverage for Reproductive System Diseases Victims? – the management and treatment for these chronic conditions is expensive.
- Can Kenya develop a structure for Reproductive Health?
- How can common wananchi access quality Reproductive Health care under N.H.I.F Cover?
2. TO THE PRIVATE SECTOR
- Would you give us the right diagnosis at the first visit?
- Would you also be well equipped with the facility resources under one roof? There has been an issue with scattered services: – laboratory services, scans, & pharmacy.
- Is there a way you could provide fair rates, so as to accommodate common wananchi, since you’ve been having fixed rates.
